The Top 3 Ways Your Selfishness Leads To MLM Failure

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series MLM Failure to MLM Success

This post is an extension of “The Top 5 Ways Your Selfishness Leads To MLM Failure” which you should read first if you haven’t already.

The top 3 ways your selfishness leads to MLM failure are:

1. You are afraid of embarrassment.

2. You fear being seen, or being looked at in a different way by others.

3. You doubt that what you have to say is worth listening to.

All 3 of these reasons stem from one thing: fear of talking to people, which I think is a primarily about low self-esteem. And what is self-esteem, anyway? We’ve all heard the term but what does it really mean?

Well, self-esteem is about how you feel about yourself. It matters so much in MLM (and in life) because in order to succeed in this industry you have to, absolutely HAVE TO put yourself “out there” in a way that you likely have never had to, ever before.

If your self-esteem is low, you feel vulnerable. Vulnerability is feeling – enter Webster’s: “susceptible to physical or emotional injury.” Wow! We won’t talk to our friends and family about our business (sometimes again, I know!) because we are afraid they will gift us with injury! That’s pretty BIG, yes?

Thing is, they MAY do that, lol! But here’s my question, can emotional injury be given to us and then we have it, feel it and are inevitably hurt by it? Or must we accept it first, before any of those other feelings come into play?

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

Exactly. No, I’m not now just going to say “Suck it up and snap out of it!” Instead I’m going to ask a question: Why do we consent?

Not knowing the answer myself, I went looking for something appropriate to include in this post, and found the video below. The fear of embarrassing ourselves or standing out in any way exists, I feel because we are so disconnected from one another. Even with the people we see and talk to every day! The lives we are conditioned to live are superficial, lack depth and therefore we feel as though we are risking our very lives when we try something new that requires us to change the way we interact.

Time to let that go. And when we do, we empower other people to do so, too. How cool is that?! It is not necessarily easy (what really worth doing is easy?) but the good news is that you are not alone. For proof, WATCH THIS VIDEO! Sorry to shout but it is that important. Watch it now, and share this post with your team. Discuss it, leave your comments below, and think about it and watch it again…:

Oooh! And I loved this video SO much that I went to see if the speaker had any books so I could go further into her work. I found she did, and here’s a link to the one I am getting first:
